🌿 Learn from the lens of lineage-based yoga instructors
🌿 Internship teaching at Yatha Yoga
The Yathā Yoga 200-hour Teacher Training is for students who are ready to move beyond “just taking class” and step into a more intentional relationship with practice, study, and community. It’s not a retreat or a quick certification. It’s a committed container where you’ll show up regularly, do the work, and be supported along the way.
This training is a good fit if you are:
🌿A dedicated practitioner who wants to deepen your understanding of asana, pranayama, meditation, and subtle body work through a lineage-informed lens.
🌿An aspiring teacher who wants a solid foundation in alignment, sequencing, safe assists, and ethical teaching.
🌿A student of any level who feels called to explore practice beyond shapes: discipline, devotion, and self-inquiry.
🌿Curious about yoga as a complete system, including philosophy, history, and how these teachings apply in real life, not only on the mat.
🌿Someone who values community and accountability, and is willing to participate fully, ask questions, and be honest about where you are.
🌿Ready to show up consistently, understanding that meaningful growth happens over time with effort, reflection, and support.
If you feel a pull toward this kind of study, you’re in the right place.

History & Foundations of Yoga
Asana
Trainees learn the historical roots of asana and explore postures central to our lineage, including foundational seated shapes such as sukhasana and savasana, along with classical standing, balancing, forward-bending, twisting, and back-bending forms.
You will learn complete sequencing principles: how to weave asana, pranayama, and meditation together to create safe, intentional classes.
We emphasize anatomical alignment, energetic direction, contraindications, and adaptive variations so trainees can guide a wide range of bodies with confidence.
Meditation
Students are introduced to key meditation terminology and methods found within classical yoga lineages. Trainees learn our studio’s meditation approach through direct practice, including So-Hum meditation, Aum mantra, and Gyan mudra. These techniques help deepen personal focus and build the capacity to hold space for self and others.
Pranayama & Subtle Body
Trainees study the historical development of pranayama and its effects on both the physical and subtle body systems.
You will learn complete pranayama sequencing with safe progressions and alternatives, including ujjāyī, nāḍī śodhana, kapālabhāti, and other foundational techniques.
The curriculum also introduces central subtle-body concepts such as the koshas, kleshas, chakras, nadis, and prana vayus, giving students a holistic map of yogic energetics.
Anatomy
We cover major bones, joints, and muscles as they relate to yoga, helping trainees understand structural relationships and movement patterns. Trainees explore types of muscular contraction, how anatomical variation affects practice, and how to recognize safe versus unsafe movement.
Physiology
Students learn foundational concepts of the nervous system, stress response, vagal tone, and mind-body integration. As well as cardiovascular, endocrine, digestive, and respiratory systems. These insights support intelligent sequencing and the ability to teach in a way that honors the whole body.
Biomechanics
We examine joint movement, stabilization, balance, safe stretching, physical limitations, contraindications, and healthy alignment strategies. This prepares trainees to support students in preventing injury and cultivating body awareness.
History
Trainees will explore the evolution of yoga: from the Vedas and Upanishads, to classical and tantric yoga, to modern postural traditions. We also cover the historical meaning of “yoga” and the specific lineage and methodology that inform teaching at Yathā Yoga.
Philosophy
Our program introduces major yogic texts such as the Yoga Sūtras & Bhagavad Gītā. Trainees learn fundamental yogic concepts, reflect on how philosophy translates into daily practice, and cultivate personal insight grounded in traditional teachings.
Ethics
We explore yogic ethical frameworks, particularly the Yamas and Niyamas, and Yoga Alliance’s Ethical Commitment, including scope of practice, accessibility, consent, equity, and professional responsibility. Trainees learn how ethics inform both personal practice and teaching.
Teaching Methodology
Students learn how to structure well-balanced classes, understand pacing, create inclusive environments, and refine verbal, visual, and optional physical cueing methods. Class management tools prepare trainees to lead with clarity and confidence.
Professional Development
We support trainees in understanding the Yoga Alliance credentialing process, studio professionalism, continuing education, business basics, marketing, waivers, and liability insurance. This ensures graduates are equipped for real-world teaching opportunities.
Practicum
Trainees have multiple opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of all competencies through practice teaching, feedback sessions, mentorship, and hands-on refinement.
